Class Description:
Note: new/additional equipment will be added this year!
Imagine crawling through obstacle courses, then copying a rhythmic pattern. Next you bounce four balls with a partner, followed by catching bean bags while standing on a balance board. These are just a few examples of what we will be doing. Why? Because specialized movement can build the brain. The exercises are designed to improve balance, hand-eye coordination, visual processing, auditory processing, focused attention, dominance, and so much more. These are foundations of learning.

Research and real-world experience are showing that foundational brain processes are essential to academic learning. Today’s cutting-edge educational institutions are working intentionally on foundational brain processes via carefully chosen exercises like the ones in this class. I am pulling these exercises from four different therapeutic programs to develop games and fun activities that build a strong foundation.

The program is designed to accelerate learning and boost performance of children of all levels. Our stations and bounce juggling will be tailored to the level of the individual student, so that all students will continue to learn and progress.

Students will be given exercises to practice at home. While these are not required, they are encouraged for maximum benefit. For home practice, students are encouraged to have 2-4 bean bags and 2-4 racquetballs.

For an example of “bounce juggling”, which will be one component of our class, see:
