Class Description: The Digital Darkroom & Photo Lab

This is an iPad-based course utilizing the BVC supplied iPads available to students while at the co-op. This class will guide students through the fundamentals of using the Adobe mobile Lightroom and Photoshop apps for organizing, editing, and manipulating digital images. Through demonstrations and in-class exercises, students will learn the skills needed to manage, process, correct, and enhance photographs using these powerful apps.

Students will work on BVC iPads during class as they learn to creatively manipulate their digital images. All Adobe software tools empower students to think creatively and communicate expressively, and even turn their ideas into college and career opportunities. Adobe is the cutting-edge software for creativity today and it fosters a competitive edge for tomorrow. Photoshop and Lightroom are powerful tools for all students to become skilled on.

Class time will also be used for guidance and help with other photography activities and photo class assignments as needed. Students do not need to be in a photography class to take this class, but it is highly recommended as they will need to have digital images to work with during class.

Angie McCue

My name is Angie McCue. My husband, John and I have homeschooled all 4 children since our oldest began kindergarten (over 19 years) and have graduated our 2 oldest. Our children have attended BVC for over 16 years, and I previously served on the committee for 10 years. Photography has been a passion and pursuit since I was just 11 years old. I’ve studied photography for many years including studying photography at Sam Houston State University as my college major. I currently own and operate a successful part-time photography business and completed the Professional Photographers Association’s (World's largest trade association for professional photographers) rigorous certification process (CPP) in 2017. I firmly believe photography can be a beneficial and rewarding skill for students of all ages and can be used to develop and nurture essential problem solving, communicative skills and the creativity needed for everyday life as well as in many different career fields. Thus, photography is a valuable life skill! I've taught photography courses at BVC since 2009.
