About Katy Cordell

Katy has an Associate's of Arts degree from MCC and worked throughout college as a teacher's aide and substitute teacher. She is a professional doula and childbirth educator and founded one of the first doula agencies in Central Texas which is dedicated to supporting families from conception through the first postpartum year. Katy teaches childbirth, breastfeeding, and infant care classes in her community, mostly using her own personalized curriculum. She is an accredited volunteer La Leche League leader and hosts postpartum breastfeeding support groups where she works one-on-one with mothers and infants as they navigate the valleys and peaks of nursing. A strong pro-life advocate, Katy has worked with teen and crisis pregnancies and has a special place in her heart for supporting young women not only in pregnancy, but in becoming strong, capable, and caring mothers. Katy is in her 11th year of homeschooling and is huge proponent of parental rights and home education freedom. Not only is she passionate about caring for families in birth, but her encouragement and advocacy finds another outlet in supporting young homeschooling mothers as well. She founded and directs the first homeschooling cooperative in her community and when she’s not teaching birth classes or attending births, she spends most of her days teaching math and reading to her kiddos. She lives with her husband and five children in Gatesville.
