Apologia Exploring Creation with Astronomy – 2nd Edition. NOTE: This is a new edition of the textbook which is updated with current scientific information. We will not be using the older version of the text. I have found that Christian Book Distributors offers the best price for the textbook. Students in the same family may share a textbook. I will provide your student with their notebook and folder for class. Please have your child bring pencils, colored pencils, scissors, and a glue stick to class each week.

Class Description:
Explore the farthest reaches of God’s creation with this new and revised edition of our award-winning astronomy course. With many hands-on activities to help young scientists retain what they learn, our science curriculum uses Charlotte Mason methodology to introduce elementary-level students to the wonders of our solar system, the stars, and beyond. Our tour of the universe begins with our sun, the planets, the asteroid belt, dwarf planets, and the Kuiper belt. Then we set off across the stars to explore galaxies, nebulae, and even black holes as they reveal the marvel and might of our loving Creator. (Copied from Apologia book description.)

As with other Apologia courses, your child will work on their notebook each week. They will narrate what they have learned, make sketches, and record data from experiments. By the end of the year, they can easily refer to their notebook to remind them of everything we studied. The majority of class time each week will be spent on experiments and activities. Because one of my goals for the children is to become prepared for more rigorous upper level sciences, I will administer tests in this class, and there will be some homework each week.

Isn’t God as high as the heavens? And look at the highest stars—how lofty they are! Job 22:12

There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars; for star differs from star in glory. 1 Corinthians 15:41
