Class Description:
Learn what is really happening in cooking, baking and food safety, by learning the biology and chemistry behind it.

Class time will be used to discuss the topic, demonstrations and for students to develop the recipe or menu for them to make in the week ahead. Time required for this will vary, e.g. muffins will not take long, but making yeasted bread might take all day (or several days if it’s sour dough!)

Topics will include food safety, flavor and feel of food, basic nutrition, raw foods, baked goods, vegetables, meats, pasta, eggs and dairy, soups and stews.

Rachael Younger is the wife of her best friend, Pete, for 13 years now. They have two sons, Samuel and Owen. She is a teacher at heart and by training, having taught Adult ESL in the Los Angeles areas for 3 years before coming to Waco so Pete could attend Baylor for his PhD. Once in Waco, she taught science at Live Oak Classical School for 2 years, until Samuel was born. She has been homeschooling for 2 years now. She has a BS in Zoology and an MA in Applied Linguistics. This will be her 4th year teaching for BVC.
