In this fun and engaging early elementary class, students will explore the rich history, symbols, people, food, and natural beauty of Texas! Through stories, hands-on activities, art projects, music, and interactive games, children will discover what makes Texas special.
Students will learn about important historical events like the Battle of the The Alamo and meet famous Texans such as Sam Houston and Barbara Jordan. We’ll explore state symbols including the Texas Longhorn, the Northern Mockingbird, and the beautiful Bluebonnet.
Children will also discover the diverse regions of Texas—from the deserts of West Texas to the forests of East Texas and the Gulf Coast beaches along the Gulf of Mexico. We’ll talk about popular Texas foods like tacos, barbecue, and pecan pie, and learn how different cultures have shaped Texas traditions.
This class encourages curiosity, creativity, and state pride while building foundational social studies skills in a way that’s age-appropriate and exciting. By the end of the course, students will be proud Texas experts, ready to share what they’ve learned about the Lone Star State!
