In this class we will learn about some of our nation’s most important people, events and times using a variety of resources including books, pictures, short videos, maps and artwork. I will incorporate lap books, crafts, snacks, songs and games into our classes to help students stay engaged and interested in the subject.
We will cover Thomas Jefferson, Lewis and Clark, Abraham Lincoln, The Wright Brothers, Teddy Roosevelt, Babe Ruth and much more throughout our year. We’ll cover each topic for 2-4 weeks before moving on.
While talking about the Wright Brothers we will learn about their lives and their inventions. We’ll learn about the history of flight and how the brothers’ contribution has helped shape our country and world. We will build model airplanes out of different materials and let the kids test out how well they fly. We will discuss the various modes of transportation that were available before the invention of aircrafts and discuss how our lives might be different without them.
