This class is both fun and informative. Students will learn about:
The fundamental principles of mechanics, electricity, magnetism, optics, electromagnetic waves and thermodynamics. Here are some specific topics that will be taught:
Mechanics: Kinematics, Newton’s laws of motion, work, energy, power, linear momentum, circular motion, rotational motion, and simple harmonic motion.
Electricity and Magnetism: Electric charge, Coulomb’s law, electric field, electric potential, current, resistance, Ohm’s law, circuits, magnetic field, and electromagnetic induction.
Optics: Reflection, refraction, mirrors, lenses, and the wave nature of light.
Thermodynamics: Temperature, heat, thermal energy, specific heat capacity, phase changes, and the laws of thermodynamics.
Modern Physics: Atomic and nuclear structure, quantum mechanics, and special relativity.
Electromagnetic waves including sound and harmonics
In addition to these topics, students will also learn problem-solving skills, experimental design, and critical thinking. Students will have opportunities to apply their knowledge through laboratory experiments and real-world applications.
Math needed for the class is taught in the class.
