Class Description

What makes us a good citizen? What is a community helper? In this class, we will learn all about the people in our great community. We will learn about these citizens, what they do each day, and what those jobs do to help us in our lives. We will also learn about what it means to be a good citizen.

We will take 1-3 weeks to discuss and learn about these different community helpers. We will read books, watch videos, do hands on activities, have discussions and much more. We will also have special guests throughout the year to teach us all about their jobs!

We’ll cover police officers, firemen, doctors, nurses, veterinarians, pastors, librarians, dentists, postal workers and many more. While learning about each helper, we will also learn about ways we can help them. For instance, when we borrow a library book, is it is important to take care of the book you borrow? Can we help police officers and firemen by following the laws and only calling for real emergencies? There are many ways we can help others in our community and become a good citizen.
