In this class we will learn about some of our nation’s most important people and events using a variety of resources including books, pictures, short videos, maps and artwork. We will incorporate lap books, crafts, snacks, songs and games into our classes to help students stay engaged and interested in the subject.
We will cover Sacagawea, Lewis and Clark, Daniel Boone, the Wright Brothers, Ronald Reagan, Neil Armstrong, Texas history and much more throughout our year. We’ll cover each topic for 2-4 weeks before moving on.
For each unit we will have a variety of activities to keep kids interested and learning. For example, while studying the Wright Brothers, we will learn about their lives and inventions. We’ll study the history of flight and how the brothers’ contribution helped shape our country and world. We will build model airplanes out of different materials and let the kids test out how well they fly. We will discuss the various modes of transportation that were available before the invention of aircrafts and discuss how our lives might be different without them.
