This class teaches the basics of how to understand literature by (1) surveying myths and fairy tales that inspired the stories of great writers such as Shakespeare, Austen, and Twain, (2) using fairy tales and myths to teach how to interpret images, metaphors, form, and story, and (3) showing how all stories point to God’s Story and lead us to His Truth. Understanding fairy tales and myths opens up all literature because they are the heart of how stories work. This class will require reading usually one fairy tale or myth per class and coming prepared to orally narrate and discuss what the student observed.
