Required Materials or Books:
water color set with a brush, 24 color set of crayolas, 2 regular pencils, big pink eraser or art gum eraser, clipboard and zippered case for pencils and crayons. All other supplies like clay, tempra, acryclic paints, papers and such are provided by me.
This class is both fun and informative. Students will learn about:
the techniques of the master painters whose paintings hang in museums. This would include how they painted, how they got their inspiration, how the made their materials and their brushstrokes.
the techniques of a few artists who are not yet famous
how to visualize and then shape clay into a desired object
how we can better appreciate the tapestry God made in the heavens and on earth for us to see
working with diverse mediums such as different paints, different surfaces to paint upon and different tools such as brush versus pallet knife
how to blend colors to achieve that just right look in a painting
the effect different music styles have on art work
And a field trip to Twelve Oaks Farm to see some real vibrant natural colors

Martha Gillespie has 3 children and 5 grandchildren. She homeschooled her own children. Married for 48 years to Bruce Gillespie. They both run a website dedicated to learning. They operate a working ranch outside Hillsboro, TX. Martha is an artist, farmer/rancher, teacher and sailor. She has a degree in Elementary Education and multiple degrees in Psychology specializing in child learning.
