Class Description:
Let’s do a play AND improve reading skills! Reader’s theatre is a way of dramatizing a story by turning it into a script and then performing it. Reader’s theatre motivates reluctant readers and provides fluent readers the opportunity to explore genre and characterization.
Readers Theatre helps students to:
• develop reading fluency through repeated exposure to text.
• increase comprehension.
• integrate reading, writing, speaking, listening in an authentic context.
• increase reading motivation.
• develop confidence.
• develop performance skills such as characterization, inflection, and facial expression.
We will perform 4-6 pieces during the year. Parents will be invited to the performance of each piece.
