Class Description: Class Description:
This class would provide hands on opportunities to learn through sensory play. The sensory activity for the week will have a theme/learning focus. I strongly believe that learning comes through doing, so the bulk of the class time will be giving students the opportunity to be actively engaged in the sensory activity.

The way I envision a class day would be as follows:

Theme: Farmyard Fun
Opening Story: Math On The Farm
Sensory Station #1: Shucking Corn
Sensory Station #2: Painting with cobs of corn
Sensory Station #3: Dramatic play with farm animals in soil/grass surfaces
Closing Story: Click Clack Moo
Dramatic Play and Sensory Play are so crucial for students in so many ways. Skills for cooperating, imagining and being an engaged learner are all strengthened through this type of play.

About Rebecca Baker

My name is Rebecca Baker. I have spent many years working with students. Currently I stay home with my 3 toddlers and keep 3 additional babies/toddlers as well. At my in home care, I take every opportunity to engage even these littles in learning experiences. Prior to staying home, I taught at China Spring Elementary for 6 years (3 years in 3rd and 3 years in 2nd). I studied at MCC and University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. While at UMHB, participated in internships and tutoring. While at MCC, I worked at Baylor's Piper Child Development Center as an assistant teacher. I found my calling to work with children as a youth while on a mission trip and began pursuing it then through programs such as VBS and PALS.
