Class Description:
This class will focus on understanding plays and dramatic conventions. The first semester we will learn the literary terms used in dramas and read several short plays to get a good understanding of how plays work. We will also be looking at figurative language used in plays and explore character motivation. The second semester will focus on Shakespeare. We will read and study two of his famous plays: “Romeo and Juliet” and “Hamlet”. These plays have universal themes that teach good life lessons as well as give students great exposure to the beauty of Shakespeare’s writing ability.
