Class Description:
This class builds on a students’ love for creative movement and dance through learning technique and routines in the styles of jazz, hip hop, lyrical, ballet and cultural dances around the world! We will study famous dancers that have paved the way for us in the fall and cultural dances around the world in the spring! The goal is to nurture and build the student’s creativity and love of dance and create an appreciation for dance in all cultures along with learning appropriate basic technique and body awareness skills. Classes will also incorporate learning how to praise God through fun dance routines. All classes will use age appropriate classical, cultural and Christian music. Students are encouraged to wear dance clothes or comfortable clothes they can move in and bring socks, ballet or jazz shoes, and tennis shoes. Students will perform a short recital on the last day of Co-op in both the fall and the spring! “Let us praise His name with dancing!” Psalm 149:3

About Natalie George

Natalie, a Waco native, is the owner and artistic director of Joy’s School of Dance and an adjunct dance professor at Baylor University. She began her dance career at age five and studied dance throughout high school and college under many professionals.
She has been teaching ballet, tap, jazz and lyrical to students of all ages for over 15 years and is the lead JSOD Dance Company instructor. Natalie has been a master dance teacher at conventions throughout the state and is a board member of the Texas Association of Teachers Dancing (TATD).
Natalie graduated from Baylor University in 2004 with a degree in Public Relations and Business Administration. She now teaches ballet, jazz, social dance and the capstone dance minor classes in the Baylor HHPR department and serves as a master teacher and faculty advisor for the Baylor Dance Company.
Natalie has been married to her husband Clinton for 10 years and their son Christian is 3 years old. They are members of Harris Creek Baptist Church. It is her passion to teach children about praising God through dance.
