Class Description:
Take an exciting journey through United States history, geography, and craftsmanship with Kaya, Felicity, Josefina, Kirsten, Addy, Samantha, Kit, and Molly. Create a timeline complete with eight American Girls and important dates and events in American history. We will create maps, read about American life during each period, study select presidents and historical figures, learn about character qualities, and complete fun crafts and projects based on each American Girl. We will practice basic weaving, embroidery, and etiquette as highlighted in each historical period. Each student’s work will be compiled into her very own American Girl history binder.

Curriculum for this course will include Portraits of American Girlhood and American Girl history guides. Material will be presented in an age-appropriate manner. Each student will receive an American Girl 6-inch mini-doll. You are encouraged to read one or more of the corresponding book(s) for each American Girl unit, but this is not required. Books are available through local libraries.

About Brooke Sanders

Brooke earned two degrees from Baylor University, including a Master of Science in Education. While a Baylor student, she completed internships in art history, admissions, academic advising, and as a student teacher in elementary science. Since then, Brooke has served as a professional student services advisor and administrator for two universities. She now enjoys homeschooling, sharing her projects on Pinterest, and making learning come to life!
