Class Description:

World News:  For 2 weeks each month, we will use the monthly periodical God’s World News: News Current as our springboard to help students develop a biblical worldview.  News Current reports on current events, integrating social studies, science and geography from a Biblical perspective.    For more information go to http://www.gwnews.com/newscurrent.cfm.
Financial Skills & Money: The other 2 weeks of the month we will develop an understanding and application of basic financial skills.  The students will get a taste of running a small business using an engaging program, Your Business Math Series, that teaches basic business principles! Your student will choose either a pet store or a sports store and will learn how to write checks, figure sales tax, pay bills, and keep a bank account ledger current, while practicing math to keep their very own store running and, hopefully, profitable..

In addition, during the second semester we will use The Everything Kid’s Money Book to learn even more about money.  Students will cover everything from saving for a new bike to investing their allowance online.   Kids will also learn: the history of money; how coins and bills are made; the banking system including the Federal Reserve; what money can buy; how credit cards work; ways to watch money grow; cool financial technology; and more! This section of the course will cover basic financial principles that will help your student develop the necessary skills to be a good manger of the financial resources God gives to people.
