Required Materials or Books:

  • Apologia Exploring Creation with Botany by Jeannie Fulbright.  I have found that Christian Book Distributors offers the best price for the textbook.  Mardel in Waco will also carry it.  Students in the same family may share a textbook.  I will provide your student with their notebook and folder for class.  Please have your child bring pencils and colored pencils to class each

Class Description:  We will begin the year looking at the nature of botany and the process of classifying plants. We will then discuss the development of plants from seeds, the reproduction processes in plants, the way plants make their food, and how plants get their water and nutrients and distribute them throughout the body of the plant. The children will learn about many different kinds of plants in Creation and where these plants belong in the plant classification system. Apologia texts continually stress the creationist world view and provide evidence relating to botany.

As with other Apologia courses, your child will work on their notebook each week. They will narrate what they have learned, make sketches, record data from experiments, and even put some of their plant collections in their notebook. By the end of the year, they can easily refer to their notebook to remind them of everything we studied. I will administer tests in this class, and there will be some homework. Of course, we will enjoy many experiments and projects in class, as well.
