This class is for those students who have not taken a systematic course in writing before high school or those who struggle with the mechanics of writing.  Our goal will be to introduce and reinforce basic writing skills with a view toward preparing students for college.

The lessons will be varied enough that students who have taken the class  during the 2008-2009 co-op year will find it helpful to take the class again.  During the first semester, we will review basic grammar, punctuation and sentence structure. Students will also learn the basics to good paragraph writing. Our focus, during the second semester, will be on essay writing.  Students will be introduced to a variety of types of essays and will have frequent essay writing assignments.

Some assignments will be turned in to me as Word documents attached to email, and I will make corrections and suggest revisions through email.  Class time will be used for lecture, discussion and skills practice.
