Students will be exposed to various literature selections in fiction, biography, folktale, myth, legend and poetry in order to introduce the student to writing forms, encourage creativity, stir the imagination, and encourage exploration in their own literary creations. This class will be using a unity study type approach.  Each selection will be read aloud in class by the instructor followed by reading comprehension excercises, vocabulary, and fun hands-on activities designed for in-depth study.  Students will then be given the opportunity to express themselves using the genre studied during guided classroom activities.
