Join us this year as we explore Seasons and Holidays.
We'll use wonderful children's literature, hands-on
activities, crafts, poetry, music, drama, games, science
experiments, graphing, history, geography and more!
Our desire is to provide a topical, hands-on,
multi-disciplinary approach to learning designed with 5-to
7-year-olds in mind. The
order and flow of the activities will be customized and tailored
to the attention span of this age group.
Some
of the topics we will cover will be:
fall, apples, pumpkins, scarecrows, leaves, harvest,
turkeys, Thanksgiving, Christmas, winter, snow and ice, mittens,
quilts, hearts, Valentine's Day, love, spring, wind, kites,
weather, plants, flowers and Easter.
An example of how we would cover the topic of apples:
read about apple trees in every season, make apple prints
using paint, taste a variety of apple slices, vote and graph
favorite kinds of apples, explore the inside of an apple and its
seeds and learn about how Johnny Appleseed pushed the frontier
westward.
This
class is taught in conjunction with Unit Studies Literature and
children will benefit the most from taking both classes; but, it
is NOT a requirement to take both.
We understand that schedules and needs will vary.
