This class is for those students who have not taken a systematic
course in writing before high school or those students who struggle
with the mechanics of writing.
This class will introduce and reinforce basic skills. The first
semester will focus on basic grammar, punctuation and sentence
structure. Skills will be introduced and homework exercises assigned
to reinforce those skills. We’ll work on the basics to good
paragraph writing.
During the second semester, our focus will be on essay writing.
Students will be introduced to a variety of types of essays and will
have weekly essay writing assignments.
Each assignment will be turned in as a Word document attached to
email, and I will make corrections and suggest revisions through
email.
Class time will be used for lecture, discussion and skills practice.
