Students will learn to integrate the Bible, social studies, science and geography in developing a Biblical worldview. In class we will read portions of this news guide and use it to springboard into our group discussions. Class exercises and experiences will also seek to build a student’s thinking, writing, and speaking skills. We will have a variety of written exercises such as summarizing the content of an article, responding to articles, writing letters to the editor, writing captions to photographs and using new vocabulary words in sentences. We will also seek to develop our public speaking skills through reading aloud articles, sharing opinions, orally summarizing an article or pretending to give a short radio announcement. Students will also have short monthly assignments that are encouraged to develop introductory research skills as they dig deeper on a newsworthy topic of their choice.
