Minimum Class Size: 10 This Physical Education class will go beyond calisthenics. My
desire is for the students to develop a love for fitness and an
awareness of the importance of being physically fit throughout their
lives. In addition to units on different sports such as basketball,
soccer and track and field, we will work on four components of
fitness: cardiovascular conditioning, muscular conditioning,
flexibility and balance training. We will learn different athletic
drills that improve agility and coordination. Finally, since fitness
should be fun, we will take part in many new and exciting active
games. We will also cover some basics in Health such as healthy
eating, hygiene and knowledge of bones and muscles. I received a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from Baylor University. I am certified as a Group Fitness Instructor through the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America. I am also a certified Personal Trainer through the International Fitness Association. In addition to those certifications, I am certified by the American Heart Association in CPR and First Aid. I have been employed at the Waco Family YMCA as a Group Fitness Instructor since 1999. I teach Kid's Fitness as well as adult aerobics and resistance training classes at the Y. I also do Personal Training. My husband, Darren, and I have been married almost 19 years and have three children. |
