Required Materials:

• 1 small 3 ring binder
• pencils
• colored pencils or crayons

Students will be taught about proper etiquette including such topics as polite conversation, how to set the table, and also foundations of etiquette based on the Golden Rule. Students will learn about health habits ranging from keeping healthy bodies to safety issues. They will also learn about community service and the joy they will receive from doing their part in the world around them.

Activities in the classroom pertaining to topics studied will include:

1. Children having the opportunity to participate in the American Heart Associations "Jump Rope for Heart"
2. A visit from the Waco Police Department on "Stranger Danger"
3. A visit from the McLennan Co. Emergency 911 on "How and When to Use 911"
4. A visit from the Waco Fire Department on "Fire Safety"
5. As a part of community service, children will have the opportunity to make a blanket and gift baskets for children recently diagnosed with childhood cancer at Scott & White Hospital in Temple.

My name is Melissa Lauderdale and I am the mother of two girls, Grace and Faith. My husband, Justin and I have enjoyed homeschooling for the past four years. I attend Fellowship Bible Church and am the manager for the McLennan Co. Home Educators 4-H Club. I enjoy the outdoors, reading, and spending time with family and friends.
