Cindi Daniels Tuition: $160.00 per year, payable in monthly installments of $20.00 Supply Materials Fee (due at registration): $10.00 Deposit (due at registration): $20.00 Grades: 2nd-3rd Class Time: 5th hour (1:25 - 2:20)
This class will be based on the series of history books that
begin with If you lived... Some of the books we will be using are If
You Sailed on the Mayflower, If You Lived in Colonial Times, If You
Lived at the Time of the American Revolution, If you Lived With the
Cherokee, If you Traveled West in a Covered Wagon, and If you Lived
at the Time of the Civil War. We feel that the best way to learn
history is to allow the students to experience life as it was;
therefore, we will provide projects and activities that model the
lifestyles of the people we're studying. For example, when we study
the colonial times, we will play some of the games they played, and
make a colonial toy. We will look at the kind of houses they lived
in and make an example of their paper windows. After learning about
their schools, we will make a hornbook and practice quill writing.
We will learn about the first postal service and town criers by
having the students act it out. These are just a few of the fun
activities the students will be experiencing when we study colonial
times. The other books we study will follow the same type format.
Hope you will join us on our trips back in time. Cecile Crumpler is the mother of 3 children and grandmother of 12. She relocated to Waco to be closer to her children after retiring from teaching elementary school for 30 years. She has a Bachelor's and a Master's in Elementary Education. Her main focus in teaching has always been history and literature using a lot of hands-on activities. She has traveled extensively in the U.S. and has developed a strong love of country which she wants to share with her students. She will be co-teaching this class with her daughter, Cindi Daniels. Cindi is the mother of 8 and has been homeschooling for 7 years. She has a Bachelor's degree and has taught all different ages in swimming lessons, mother's day out programs, and Sunday school classes. She really enjoys using the unit study approach in teaching her own children. |
