Materials Fee (due at registration): $20.00 Deposit Due at Registration: $30.00 Grades: 4th and up Minimum Class Size: 8 students Maximum Class Size: 20 students Class Time: 3rd hour (10:40-11:35) Taking what has been learned in Art II (or equivalent experience,) Art III students will focus more extensively on advanced drawing concepts which lay the foundations for more sophisticated work in all the other media—painting, printmaking, and sculpture. The first several weeks will focus on honing drawing skills and special attention will be given to understanding one-point and two-point perspective and advanced shading techniques. Art III students will also have the opportunity to work on canvas with acrylic paints, (not offered in Art I or II). Emphasis will be placed on personal interpretation of subject matter. Teacher Information: Kate received a Bachelor's degree in Art History with a minor in Studio Art at Baylor University in 1994 and received a Master's degree in Arts Administration in Manhattan in 1999. She was privileged to study with one of the lead art educators in the nation through an internship at The Metropolitan Museum of Art. She has used the teaching methodology she learned to teach children from preschool through 8th grade from such diverse backgrounds as a housing project and a village in Haiti. After seven years of work at The Art Center of Waco as Director of Outreach Education, she began Art in the Park and contracts with various schools and organizations to teach art to children.
