Is college in your future and you’re ready to prepare for the SAT and/or the ACT? Then this class is exactly what you’re looking for!!! “Tackling the Test: How to Score Big on the SAT and ACT” gives all the tools needed to do well. Students will receive a comprehensive review of the types of questions that they will see on the test, receive sound advice on how to tackle the many "trick" questions they will encounter, develop a plan for effective studying, review the ever-important vocabulary, brush up on math skills tested most frequently, and gain needed insight into general test-taking skills they can incorporate to yield a successful score. The fall semester will cover the SAT and the spring semester will cover the ACT--and YES, they are VERY DIFFERENT TESTS!!!!! Homework in the form of practice tests, online quizzing, and vocabulary study will give students what they need to see improvement from an old score or establish a good score from the start.

Information given in this course is instructional in nature. Neither the teacher nor the curriculum guarantees a certain score, and the information by itself will not yield good results. PRACTICE will yield good results and get a higher score. Students should be aware of the fact that grades will not be given for this class, but homework is a MUST in order to get a pre- and post-score evaluation, practice the techniques discussed in class, and become familiar with the tests as a whole.
