According to George Barna’s research, a person’s worldview is mostly formed by the age of 12. Because a person’s worldview so greatly influences their direction in life and the decisions they make, it is vitally important that we help our children develop a Biblical Worldview.

We will use the weekly periodical God’s World News: News Current to:

  • Balance news and current events with a Biblical perspective
  • Integrate social studies, the Bible, science and geography to develop a Biblical worldview
  • Build critical thinking through Scripture references, puzzles and activities

In class we will read portions of this news guide and use it to springboard into our group discussions.

Class exercises and experiences will also seek to build a student’s thinking, writing, and speaking skills. We will have a variety of written exercises such as summarizing the content of an article, responding to articles, writing letters to the editor, writing captions to photographs and using new vocabulary words in sentences. We will also seek to develop our public speaking skills through reading aloud articles, sharing opinions, orally summarizing an article or pretending to give a short radio announcement.

Note: We will be using the periodical News Current which is written to challenge 4-5th graders but I believe the content is profitable for students through 8th grade.
