This course will follow the lessons in the Spanish 2 course offered by Bob Jones Publishing. The students learn to communicate at an intermediate level with Hispanics in a store, a bank, an airport, a hotel, a doctor's office, an auto shop, and on the mission field. Grammar, pronunciation, spelling, writing, listening, talking, verb tenses, and moods are emphasized in a variety of exercises. Completion of the textbook course is equivalent to one high school credit.

Students will be given a schedule of daily written workbook assignments, listening to CDs, and making a cassette of their oral drills. Class time will introduce dialogues and grammar lessons, review material and offer oral application drill. Workbook assignments and tests will be graded by parents. The pace will be to cover one lesson per week and there are three lessons in a chapter. This co-op course should be able to cover nine of the twelve chapters. Parents will need to decide if they want to continue to complete the final chapters independent of the co-op class (this will have a bearing on whether they invest in the teacher’s manual for the textbook). It is difficult for students to grasp a foreign language with only one day a week. The BJU curriculum offers great exposure to oral drill on a daily basis which will boost students' confidence in conversation skills.
