During the first semester, we will be reading books in class recommended by the "1000 Good Books List " on the Classical Homeschooling website ( www.classical-homeschooling.org/celoop/1000-primary.html). We will be discussing the author's style and use of descriptive language and through the unit study approach delve further into the book's topic in preparation for beginning writing.

It's never too early to help young children grow as writers, and during the second semester, this class will use games, projects, and activities to encourage children to learn fun in oral word use and carry it over into written work--an essential ingredient for writing skills. We will covers adjectives, listing, paragraphing, ordering actions, grouping and variety, story writing, letter writing, personal narration, comparing, and imagination. We will be doing weekly journaling. If your child can independently write," This cat is big", they are ready for this class.
